About the Event
The Girgarre Memorial Hall was formally opened on Wednesday, 8 March 1922. The completed hall was a fitting tribute to the dedication of community members who had decided that the hall be constructed through local effort. To mark the centenary of this milestone event a luncheon will be held at the hall on Saturday, 5 March 2022 commencing at 11.30 a.m. All are most welcome to attend, (according to Covid regulations should they still apply).
Also to be recognised at this event is the formation in 1920 of the Girgarre Sub-branch of The Returned Sailors’ and Soldiers’ Imperial League of Australia (RSSILA), now known as the Returned and Services League of Australia (RSL). The RSL room, which contains displays and memorabilia, will be open for visitors from 10.00 a.m. to 11.15 a.m. and again after the luncheon. (The RSL room is situated in Station Street, Girgarre.)
Any information, photos and stories relating to the hall and events held there, would be much appreciated. Please use the contact form on this website if you have something to share or if you have any queries regarding the occasion.
